Santa brought Christmas cheer to South Oxhey at the Parish Council’s Winter Fun Day held on 3 December.

Father Christmas was in his grotto with a handy supply of gifts for the children.

Councillor Stephen King was on duty throughout the day and marshalled the event with Parish Council colleagues selling tickets for all the rides and the raffle.

Hundreds braved the cold and wintry conditions at the new Market Square outside Nisa.

The event successfully raised over £1,700 for the Air Ambulance charity and South Oxhey’s foodbank, which Councillor Stephen Cox said continues to be “very busy and in demand” during the present  on-going cost-of-living crisis.

More Christmas lights still a hope

The Parish Council has still not given up on its quest to get Christmas lights put up at Station Approach.
There are problems with lamp columns installed there and now the Council is looking at putting decorative lights in the trees instead in time for next Christmas.

The Parish Council organised a great Christmas tree this year which towers above Councillor Joan King who chairs the Council.

Evening bus cuts

Picture
THE W19 bus route was replaced on Boxing Day by the 346/346A covering the same route.
However, there are fewer journeys with the last bus from Watford leaving at 17.37 - that’s now three hours earlier.

Labour councillors fought to keep the Three Rivers Council subsidy in place, but the Conservatives still axed the 18.37, 19.37 and 20.37 departures.

“It just makes it much harder to use the service,” said Councillor Stephen Cox.

‘Tan-tastic’ event

COUNCILLOR Stephen Cox organised a fantastic fundraising gala dinner with guest speaker Tan Dhesi, MP for Slough.

They’re pictured at the Clarendon Road Holiday Inn with Watford Councillors Asif Khan and Matt Turmaine and were photobombed by Frosty the Snowman!

A fair attraction

AN Autumn Fair held at Oxhey Wood School and organised by Three Rivers Council saw   more than 200 people attend.

Councillor Stephen Cox said there were plenty of activities and he is pictured at the Watford FC Community Trust stand.
