Tories want to cut affordable homes target
The Conservatives have demanded a cut in the number of desperately needed affordable homes planned here as part of the South Oxhey Initiative.
Approximately 450 homes are set to be built as part of the scheme which will also include a new supermarket at the precinct. However, in a shock move at a meeting of the South Oxhey Initiative the Tories declared themselves dead set against 45% of those homes being for rent at rates people can afford so they can carry on living here.
Councillor Joan King, who was at the meeting was left dumbfounded. She said; "The Tories claimed to support the plans but actually that's not the case at all. They want to scale back on the homes we need," she stormed

Conservatives say "Sink not swim"
YOUR HARD-WORKING LABOUR TEAM are backing proposals for a new 4-lane swimming pool on the estate at a rebuilt Centre in Gosforth Lane.
Proposals drawn up by architects Levitt Bernstein which are on this website envisage a redesigned centre (option three in the presentation) which would have a projected 30-year life-span. The building would also include a teaching pool, a fitness suite, a kiln, the youth centre as now and a cafe.
Your Labour team's goal is also a four-court sports hall suitable for five-a-side football.
However, the Conservatives have refused to back the plans. "Just what have they got against South Oxhey?" said Councillor Joan King.
Labour is backing the proposals as that is what residents said they wished to see when consulted as part of the South Oxhey Initiative.
